ER and michondria in live spermatocytes
Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and mitochondria during meiosis I in primary Drosophila spermatocytes.
Recording of pdi-GFP (in green) and mitotracker (in red) reveal the behaviour of ER and mitochondria during meiosis I. The ER composes a system of membranes that surround both the asters and the nucleus all throughout meiosis I. Mitochondria, initially dispersed, distribute along astral micrutubules as prometaphase I progresses and end up concentrated at the equator of the cell, from where they will be equally distributed to the daughter cells upon division.
